There are few legends like the one we are about to tell you. Most mysterious legends can’t be witnessed, at least not on a regular basis. Texans have a reputation of boasting, but when you drive to Marfa and express a doubt about the famous Marfa Lights you will hear only one sentiment from the locals—Go see for yourself. MARFA, TEXAS - The Lights have been reported since 1883 and have been seen, photographed and even videotaped ever since. From the time that the Mystery Lights baffled local ranchers to a story ran by NBC’s "Unsolved Mysteries" no one has been able to solve the puzzle of this phenomena. Theories have been tossed around, from auto lights from the
near by Highway 67, or natural gasses, to UFO’s and ghosts but no one has any proof. No proof exists of the Lights except the
Lights themselves. They appear out of
the dark of night and dance through the sky.
Sometimes just one, sometimes two or three at a time, will weave among
each other. One light may remain still
until a bold observer edges near to get a better look and then zooms away
again.
