OTTINE SWAMP THING

OTTINE, TEXAS -  Just behind the San Marcos River and smack in the middle of Palmetto State Park exists a very attractive…swamp.  Well, for swampland it is fairly nice, especially if you time your visit after the worse of the mosquitoes have found the weather too cool to come hunting for you.  Really you can only base the title of swamp on its mushy, watery plant life, it’s a comfortable place to be after you have gotten accustomed to the hum of insects and sounds of birds hidden from sight by foliage.  Not where I will be building my home, but apparently other creatures are not so picky. A creature has been heard around the swamp that seems to fit in comfortably with its surroundings, heard often enough, but rarely if ever seen.   A huge something, that shakes the ground when it walks, moves large trees with an angry shake, and can raise the hackles of a grown man’s neck with an other-worldly scream.

Is this another case of a “Texas Big Foot”?  Impossible to say without more evidence, or at least more input from an eyewitness.  The only problem is finding volunteers who are willing to put in quality time investigating a swamp.  As for me I heard nothing, but personally I didn’t stay for sundown.
